TERRIFIC

THIS MOTION PICTURE IS OFFICIALLY AN AFFILIATE OF THE FILMMAKING PARAGONS.

It takes time to adjust oneself to the template of the film. The heretical cinematography can get a little distracting. Too much of explanations through texts and verbal statements can be too much to digest. But, if you think The Big Short buzzkills or tolerates tardiness because of all these, you're sadly mistaken!

This true story enunciates the financial comatose that occurred between 2007 and 2008 due to the speculative mania of housing markets. It's an airborne virus that demolished the futures of many, and director Adam McKay attempts to represent the end of an era incident in a lighter vein.

The movie is divided into Three Acts, with relevant quotes interlaced to fire up the set-up, confrontation and resolution respectively. There are tons of interestingly ornamented scenes, bolstered by sharp dialogues, quick image cuts, historical montages and unanticipated celebrities' cameos to simplify jargons.

Christian Bale is outstanding as Dr. Michael Burry! Steve Carell's Mark Baum and Ryan Gosling's Jared Vennett are likable too.

Overheard at a Washington, D.C. bar: "Truth is like poetry. And most people fucking hate poetry."
