GOOD

When you have a mountain full of dreams, held back by burdening family responsibilities & buried deep by household problems, what would you do?

Introducing Joy Mangano (Jennifer Lawrence), a self-made millionaire who constructs her empire, beginning with the Miracle Mop. This actress right here gives a well-rounded killer performance! She is multidimensional & has matured as an actress so much! There are myriad situations & dream-crushing plot points, sometimes travelling to the past & present seamlessly to flesh out her character. You relate to her & you feel for her, effortlessly! If only her constantly remaining make-up was wiped off to emanate tiredness, everything would have been dandy.

The editing, dialogues & sound placements are bang-up, albeit a small off lip sync during the singing portion. Smooth entrepreneurship process, hovering composedly from drafting, brainstorming, demoing, marketing & FTC call records are awesome! Bradley Cooper as Neil Walker, impresses.

However, the film suffers from the annoying, one-dimensional family members as supporting characters. Robert De Niro as Rudy Mangano is funny at places, but joins the irritating club too for the most parts. Why would the screenplay treat these personas so, one fails to fathom.

Also logically, one would pick up the large chunks of glass debris first before mopping the floor. And that weak incident boosting an idea inspiration for the protagonist is… well, weak. How does the bathroom randomly lead to the factory, one wonders.

By far, the biggest complaint is that, the film would have benefited by ending right after the mops start to sell! Snip off the rest & we would have had a neat picture. It goes on, and on again, with lame aging effects & the business magnate unconvincingly signing off a reimbursement after receiving the mild threat.

"You cannot let the practical let you down. You've got to do what you've got to do achieve your dreams."
