EXCEPTIONAL

THIS MOTION PICTURE IS OFFICIALLY AN AFFILIATE OF THE FILMMAKING PARAGONS.

Christopher Nolan revamped almost everything we've seen, heard and love about Batman in all preceding media forms prior to The Dark Knight trilogy. This esteemed filmmaker has the right idea when it comes to reboot, remake, reimagining, spin-off, sequel, prequel or any terms that belong in this same category. He had a fresh, new input to add to or build upon the Batman world and lore, and went ahead to perform exactly that by only extracting the core DNA components that make up the world's greatest detective and his universe for the foundation.

A Christopher Nolan film is always celebrated worldwide due to its solid writing and phenomenal making! The score by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard is mysterious, heroic and goddamn epic! Bats to introduce title sequence, majority of events having setup / foreshadowing dialogues that lead to absolutely satisfying payoffs / comebacks / reversals at the end of every turn, pulsating sound design and fantastic scene arrangements following Kuleshov Effect are the writer-director's staples you'll notice immediately!

Who knew you could give a character arc to an already well-established fictional pop culture icon? From a kid who develops phobia towards bats, loses his parents, travels the world in search for the path to true justice, learns how to look beyond his own pain and identify the difference between justice versus revenge, physically trains with League of Shadows under the guidance of Ra's al Ghul (Liam Neeson) to finally defining the core principle of Batman, we are basically provided the birth and origin story of one of the greatest superheroes of all time, in possibly one of the greatest comic book films of all time!

Would you just take a look at the cast?! Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, Ken Watanabe, Morgan Freeman, can you ask for more honestly?! Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne and Batman is stunning! Just look at the unbelievable body transformation he has pulled off for this role, including the variations he show in this one movie itself! Most superhero origin flicks have the mandatory 'preparation' stage, and it's not an exception here! Batcave discovery and construction, Bruce Wayne desensitizing his fear of bats by standing among a flock of them, Tumbler testing, Batarang carving, Batsuit spray-painting, physics based costume, cape and cowl with parts ordered from Singapore and China are extremely exciting to watch!

You could kinda tell this is Nolan's first time approach to primarily action filmmaking, therefore a lot of the actions, especially the ones featuring Batman, while being awesome, lacks any major imagination and contains quite a bit of repetition. However, let's grapple back to the awesome part, and quickly mention the nerve-wrecking climax taking place in the subway train, intense highway chase with Tumbler's gadgets and stealth mode, Batman gliding, backup support from bats ambush, Batman's intro brawl, Scarecrow encounter, ninja-surrounding trial and the destruction sequence of Ra's al Ghul's temple, which are all freaking great set pieces of entertainment! All the fear illusions are horrifying too. With the Joker tease at the end, we all know where we are headed now, don't we?

Henri Ducard: "Your compassion is a weakness your enemies will not share."

Bruce Wayne: "That's why it's so important. It separates us from them."
